Piano Audition Requirements

student plays a piano on stage in front of an audience in the Moody Music BuildingUndergraduate students should prepare at least three memorized works of contrasting style that exhibit musical and technical proficiency appropriate for college music study. Students should be performing at least the level of Bach Inventions and Kuhlau Sonatinas at the audition. Sight-reading will be required at the audition as well.

Prospective master’s students should prepare a program of no less than 30 minutes of memorized music that represents at least three contrasting styles.

Prospective doctoral students should prepare a program of no less than 60 minutes of memorized music that represents at least three contrasting styles. A complete sonata is strongly encouraged.

Students must complete an audition request prior to the audition date.
